The wine industry has a long history in Glen Ellen, a small town that is located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley- which locals often refer to as the Valley of the Moon. Glen Ellen had its beginnings in the mid-1800s when Charles Stuart built a home and established a 1000-acre vineyard on property that he named Glen Ellen, after his wife. As a town grew around the vineyard, the town came to be known as Glen Ellen as well. Stuart later changed the name of his property and vineyards to Glen Oaks, as it is still known today.
